Scratchplate Measurements

How Can I figure out the measurements for a scratchplate on a Bass that Doesn't have one on it initially, Namely

not with that pick up configuration though, I plan to change the pickups, the Jazz Pickup to a Seymour Duncan ceramic MM and the Split Coil to a Seymour 1/4 Lb'er Single Coil

I'd make the modifications, then get some card and scissors and try a few shapes until you find one you like?.

Looking at the Bass, I'd say there's not a lot of room to fit a scratchplate anyway - especially with the controls on the front of the instrument. Why not replace the split P with another split P and not bother with the scratchplate at all as you won't need one.?

i don't want to use a Split P because I feel I'd have to reverse the Split P if i was to do that since the Jazz pickup is pretty Close to the bridge. and if i reversed the P i couldn't do any slapping on it, due to my style of slapping not being refined

I mean't that because it already has a split P, replacing it with another split P would mean you wouldn't have any holes to cover up and so wouldn't need a scrathplate.

Work on your slapping until it is refined .

Something like a modified oval shaped Music man pickguard would work on that me thinks.

hmmm possibly, I hadn't thought about the MM style Pickguards though talking to my lass about it and the possible styles, the body is tiny compared to a Fender and Stingray styles bodies, so it's rather peculiar, but since the entire bass is black it'd be hard to respray it without taking off all the paint, unless I make it Punkish with mismatch Paint
