Scroll Bass Company ?

Has anybody tried one of these? There's one right now on evil bay. Looks real nice but do they play well?

I've played one before and wasn't particularly impressed. It was certainly a good bass but there was nothing about it that really stood out. At that price point there are a good few I'd take instead.

I will point out that "scroll bass" does imply certain styling elements that are not present on the bass in the OP's link.
