SD Apollo Jazz Bass pickups thoughts?

Just a reminder when retrofitting pickups in Fender Basses:

Over these many years, and the many slight variations in dimensions and different locales where they've been produced, exact replacements of a different brand may very well ALMOST fit . . .

Here we're talking about Jazz Bass pickups, so to be SURE your new Wonder X pickups will 'drop in', to be sure they will, measure everything.

Length
Width
Depth
. . . and the 'ears' with the four holes for the mounting screws.

And you do this for the ones you're removing, so you can match (or maybe not) to the ones you're considering.

More than a few guys have bought the stacked humbucking Jazz Pickups, and sure enough, the L and W was fine, but the depth was too tall.

Also, another thing to remember with a Jazz Bass: The classic layout had a slightly longer bridge pickup, BUT there can be Jazz Basses with both pickups the same width. Don't be surprised upon measuring them if yours turns out to have two of the same size. Not a problem as then you simply buy two neck or two bridge pickups. It's always one of the other, there was never a 3rd oddball size.

Well, I am certainly biased, but the Apollos are my favorite SD bass pickups, period. Everything I love about the J but without any noise, and if you play in noisy places, it comes in handy. The only catch is to measure the length of the pickups currently in your bass and compare to the specs here and here.

I’m trying to figure out if they will fit in my five string sire v5 body… on seeetwater I see 70/74mm or 67/70mm options but what the shag is that? Five string jazz basses are all around 100mm long so I’m so confused. they don’t even say what those numbers represent either

It’s a good thing none of these pickups list the dimensions! Which would be extremely easy to do. It’s so stupid

*** do these numbers even represent? How are we supposed to know what fits what? It makes no sense. What is 70mm?! Certainly not the length of the pickup

They're the space between the outer strings/poles, basically. If you go to the SD website, they have these files.
