I've got a Fender Jazz MIM and I'm looking to get Mark Hoppus' tone. He uses Seymour Duncan Quarter pounder split Ps. Would I get his sound from SD Quarter Pounder Js? If not could I get a pickguard anywhere to fit after installing split Ps in my Jazz?

Would using Ernie Ball Super Slinkies make a massive difference in getting his sound? I know this is in the Pickups section but I don't want to make a new thread in the strings section about the same thing.

i dont think you'll get the P sound using J's

i think youd be able to get a pickguard so you could stick a P on there tho, i dont see why not

running two J's in series will get you a P'ish sound, not exact but maybe it'll suffice for your needs
