That takes a pretty major leap of faith. I don't know which exact speaker version the OP has, but the Sheffield Pro 1200+ gives the best results in 3 cu ft per speaker. They put them in a cab that's too small, because who wants a 12 cu ft 4x12 ? What you end up with is a loss of lows and boomy midbass. There are 12s that work fine in a much smaller cab, but they're much better 12s than Sheffields. If we assume the Peavey cab was built correctly for 4 drivers
I'd gladly share some info on my DIY 2X12 if you want. It is a little unusual, however, as I was designing it to go with my old Bassman and wanted it to work as a tall or short cab.

YeahIf you're worried, get your gear insured. Be sure to tell the insurer you use it professionally. Sometimes you can get a rider on your homeowner/renters policy or you can get a separate policy. Not cheap but you don't have to worry.
My basement is indeed pretty crappy. I've been working down there to make it a nice wood workshop.I think it's awesome that you built such a beautiful cab down in Quasimodo's dungeon.
I've been checking out the BFM Simplexx cabs. I'm thinking 2 x 112's might be a good, modular solution.
The cabinet is made to look like one of the mid-sixties Bassman 212's, but is significantly larger. The net internal volume is a little over 4 CF and the slot port is tuned to 54 Hz. According to Bassbox Pro, that gives me an F3 of about 59 Hz with the Eminence Delta Pro 12's in there, which is plenty deep for bass. In fact, it has quite a bit better bass extension than my GK NEO212-II, which has a manufacturer claimed F3 of 53 Hz.Eric,
Beautiful work! Are those cabs deep enough for bass? I know a lot of guitarists use the bassman cabs as well.
