Searching for the perfect preamp pedal

I decided to go with a preamp I could leave on at all times, with a cab sim on the DI, a good EQ, and some light drive. I think I have now found it with the Super Vintage. Even with the drive at noon it just gives a pillowy softness to the tone. I rely on other pedals for a) rock crunch and b) face melting. That's the YYZ and the Aftershock respectively. (See my recent post on dirt pedal shootout) I have a HPF that is also always on, right before my comp.

I have a GR combo and the tone stack / Eq on it is amazing, so can only imagine it is great in pedal form too

Hello all, and thanks for all the advice. I decided to go the "2 pedal" route, replacing my MXR M80 DI with a Broughton Messenger JR and a Way Huge Pork and Pickle - much more versatile and a better use of the space! Unfortunately, I can't fit the mini iso-brick under the pedalboard due to height, but I wouldn't be able to power another pedal anyway since I'm now using all 5 outputs

If you wanted an extra pedal, you could find rubber stoppers to raise the pedalboard and fit the power brick under it, and you could use a daisy-chain cable to have 2 pedals powered by a single power out
