I really had hoped to touch base with some of you while I was there, but between the conference I attended, and some of the sponsors holding after-hour events (that are very good to attend, for networking opportunities), I had very little time to do much at all. I made it to Pike's Place, the Needle, and Elliot's Oyster House for some amazing oysters, and a great tutorial by the super cool bartender. Other than that, I did very very little. You are not in Atlanta, you are in Decatur! Hit Farm Burger- about a 4 block walk. One block away is the Decatur square- Brick Store pub and Victory Sandwiches. See if anybody is playing at Eddies Attic. For good coffee, bypass Starbucks and hit Java Monkey- they have wine and live music as well. Basically just walk out the front door and turn wight. Half a block later you are on the main drag.

Downtown Decatur is a great place to be staying if you like food and beer. Definitely second the Brick Store - they've been rated one of the top beer bars in the country. Their food is decent, but the beer is where it's at. Victory is also great for a quick lunch. If you want a more upscale dinner, No. 246 is good. And if you like ramen and Korean/Chinese cuisine, Taiyo is inside the Marriott lobby. It's one of my faves, and they have a great cocktail menu as well. All these spots are no more than a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Enjoy!

I'll second the Flying Biscuit suggestion. I don't get to Atlanta much, but when I do I always try to get to FB for breakfast/brunch.

Not sure how long its been since you've visited ATL, but in my opinion, Flying Biscuit has declined in quality in the past few years. The original franchise was purchased by a bigger company a few years back, and things weren't the same after. Not worth waiting in line for anymore.

If you like biscuits so hard that you may break a tooth when biting into them, try the Flying Biscuit. I hate the place.

I've only been once in the past 8 years or so; it was about 3 years ago and it was still quite good. Maybe we hit it on the right day. It was about midmorning on a weekday, so there was no wait.

More on Atlanta.
High Museum of Art is a small yet expansive museum Not open Mondays and will take good half day to see it all.
Atlanta history museum has a lot to see

Carlos Museum on Emory Campus offers a lot if you enjoy archaeology There are 2 Fernbank museums State Capital has museum artifacts of interest. Piedmont Park and adjacent Fuqua Garden

If permitted to mention there are several notable Blues venues and ABG is a must see for bass players

If you are in Decatur then Emory campus (CarlosMuseum)is nearby as well as Fernbank and our eclectic community Little 5 Points is 15 minutes away with traffic

BTW Atlanta drivers are the worst 4 out of 5 don't need to drive. I know of no issues with uber or the like; I am not affiliated with any transportation organizations
