Seek advice: Fender P bass elite

Hi guys,

it's a true head scratcher, I try to find a bass but i can't decide...

I looked at more metal oriented instruments but it might not be the wisest choice.

Then looked at a P bass and I found a Fender Elite P bass for 900 bucks with case at guitar center (it was apparently at 1300$ before). They don't provide much infos but on the picture the instrument looks ok. Do you think it is a decent deal or a total rip off?

thanks guys, I am looking at the "typical" p bass sound so if this one has a different tone it will not work for me i think.

My concern about American std p bass is that it seems that the fit and finish varies greatly from one to the other and as i said i will not be able to see the instrument before it arrives in Europe...

Yep.

I've got the Elite II.

It's built VERY well.....it's got wonderful neck, nice hardware, low action, and plays great.

...but does have more of a snappy attack and active high end. You can dial the snappy high end back with the tone control....but it's not as naturally FAT and organic as a passive P bass.

Actually, that's what I was looking for in a bass....when I bought it. Clanky tone with flexibility. :cool:
