Seinfeld "bassist"?

hey y'all
i need your help settling a bet between me and our guitar player. I'm curious about the bass riffs that are played between scene transitions. i'm positive these are played on a midi or synthesizer of some sort. he's convinced that it is an acutal bassist slapping and hooking on the bass. any clues on the answer? any clues on where i can find the answer? thanks, matt
