seismic + eminence

i bought a seismic 2x10 bass cabinet. which i liked. but i thought i could get a better sound with better than original speakers. i went to my local speaker repair shop and they had a pair of swr eminence speakers they said would do better. the 1st time i played through it, it sounded terrible. took it back to the shop and they found that the speakers were so much better, they were vibrating the magnet off the tweeter. the magnet was tightened really hard and disconnected. sounded great. about a month later, no sound. i took out a speaker and found one of the wires had come off. i reconnected it, and again, it sounded terrible. took it back to the shop and they found the 1/4" input jacks were vibrating.. i took them off and super glued them back in. all is good again. i use the 2x10 with a 1x15" peavey pro neo, and sometimes with an ampeg 4x10 pro neo. still looking for that really low, loud, fell before you hear it, bass sound. any suggestions?

Tuning can vary but it'll be somewhere 40-55hz, and most typical 210 bass cabs are fairly close in size. You didn't inadvertantly start WW-III by just dropping those speakers in there and the probably do sound better than the original cheapies.

If you want the really deep "feel it" sort of bass, that is a job for the Eminence BP-102, though by the way you describe it, that cab isn't built anywhere sturdy enough to handle them. It'd be lipstick on a pig. Any energy that is vibrating the flimsy box is energy that's not making sound. You could get BP-102's, but you'd be neutering them by putting them in that box.

I'm a member of Seismic and get their coupons all the time. I have their 4ohm version 2x10, nice for 100bucks for sure as a practice cab... a.c.t.u.a.l.l.y, it sounds better as a car-cab for the trunk in my honda accord.

but seriously, I drove mine for a while with my crown1500 and my seismic 2x15 on the other channel, a nice combo for the studio and any gig with PA support. ( until I put it in my trunk...lol )

p.s. I paid 88bucks for the 1x15 and blew it up the same day -- smoked that woofer like a champ with the crown clip lights not even on :D -- changed the woofer to an old EV SRO and use it in my bedroom to jam from time to time with an old BGW 100wattamp and a Washburn rock bottom preamp.

The wood is cheap glued well but nothing inside, and for med-loud volume, and cheap oh ya. For tone if it is to be mic'ed -- not a chance.

OTOH, I have a full seismic PA 1x18/2x15-2way main stacks and for mp3 music (PA/DJ) they are great and used them many times for the country-rock band I was in earlier this year.

I was curious as to what the quality of Seismic cabinets, I guess I'll pass on 'em.

*shrug*
I gig my 115.
Its not amazing. Its fairly loud but it WILL fart out at a LOUD volume. It handles my low B fairly well. I put it under my hartke410xl and it does what I want it to. Raise my cab. Lol. It does add a smoother low mid sound to my stage sound that is missed when I don't use it. Recently I angled my 410 back on an outdoor gig and stood the 15 up next to it facing the drummer- he liked that set up alot.
Its an OK cab in all honesty. You cant throw it around and abuse it like say- an old peavey cab. You have to take care loading and unloading it....which is fine for me as I do that with ALL my gear.
The seismic stuff is ime a pretty good deal FOR THE PRICE.
