Aha! We's got something to see now. Thanks.
Nice blue, BTW.
OK - get the body spotlessly clean and use nothing that's ever been used to clean windows, cars, tools or grease, oil or silicon (including fabric softeners, etc) to wash the rags you'll use from this point on.
You need to be very careful to nor contaminate the surface as it will create fish-eyes and they aren't a positive thing.
Don't touch your face with your hands and don't forget to wash your hands with dishwashing liquid detergent before you then handle the naked wood.
Here's the place it gets 'iffy' though: Is there a sealer/sanding coat on the wood? Most all factory made guitars will have this on them and it may be problematic to the final finish.
If it's there in places and sanded off in others, the color coat is gonna be uneven and splotchy.
The product you've chosen is a good one - especially for furniture - on a bass it will be very interesting.
When the depth and saturation of the color is right where you want it - you can lock it all down with their clear spray polyurethane.
Here's the good part - any product by MinWax is going to work with any other MinWax product and not going to wrinkle, bend, bag or sag at the knees.
I think you're on to a nice color and finish - just know up front that it will not have the hardness and depth of the factory polyester catalyzed coating.
