Serious G.A.S. Attack...

My brother in Law stopped by today to pick up a bass I put together for him (he used to play in High School...and is primarily a horn player) and looking to get back into it...years ago he sold me his old Jazz....i experimented on it a lot...it has had many necks and various bridges and pick-ups installed in it...over the last 5 years...but today he got it back....with a new neck and as close to stock as i could restore it to...

This is what it looks like now...

And though I normally don't like red basses....the candy apple is growing on me...and then I saw this:

Gassing hard right now...lucky for me these are hard to come by...

the work that you did on your brother's ax is killer! very nice. he must be very pleased!

he seemed to be...though it originally had a rosewood neck...me not being a fan sold it off...i replaced it with a bound and blocked neck and then eventually an all maple neck...it has had various bridges including a Gotoh, Babicz, Kickass, and a Badass....

it has had various Fender and after market pick-ups as well

I have tried to bond with jazz basses for years without much success until i built one for myself from various parts....

His went in the closet for a rainy day (as his sister ((My Wife)) wouldn't let me sell the body off) until he recently inquired about buying it back....

I put a new player series neck on it...and restored it to as close to stock as I could manage with what is available today parts wise...

Lately I've really been getting major GAS over red basses that are sparkle, metallic, candy apple or trans with maple neck, black pickguard, and chrome hardware. HNNNNG!
