Best for me is my Peavey Millennium 5 plus. Second is my Peavey TL5. Both are 5 strings and have active electronics. They are very different form each other but both get what I want from a bass. Why Peavey? I don't care that much what's on the headstock, I just want something that plays the way I want and sounds the way I want and these do it. I've had a lot of other basses the past ten years, Fenders, Laklands, MTD, Kubicki and a Pedulla and a few more and ended up with these.

My main bass has been my Ibanez Ergodyne, which was my 1st real bass.

But I've recently started using my Fender MIJ P-Bass more, and used it at my gig last weekend (I only gig about once a month)

I use all 3 of my basses for different genres:
Rock, pop = Ric 4001
Funk, Heavy = Musicman Sabre
Soul, Blues, Funk = Fender Jag.

Functionally, none right now. I'm a sax player by trade. I do find, however, that my Carvin pretty much covers all the tonal ground I need it to.

Presently, I'm using a '08' MIA Fender Jazz V, the other bass is used sparingly, it's a 2007 Carvin LB75AP Anniversary in passive mode. The Jazz V does any gig I have convincingly.

My main bass will always be my fender jazz, but since i picked up my sterling 5 its kind of taken a back seat. Although, I have been playing the sterling with the pickups in a jazz set up, so it's really just a 5 string jazz.

Go with the jazz. Can't go wrong there.

either my Reverend Rumblefish PJ or my '88 Steinberger XL-2, depending on the gig.

I will generally use both basses I bring on a gig, and any one of them may get the most playing time. The Steinberger has seen a lot of action recently.

Wow loaded question.

For me, heavily modified Aria Pro II with Bill Lawrence J45's, I worked it in for years "stock". Now it really shines.

The mods made it the bass that goes in my coffin with me when I die.

I use my brownsville (beatle bass), my dano reissue blue longhorn and my 06 American Jazz....not in that order...all of them provide me with the tones I need for club gigs and one -nighters..played thru a hartke set-up or an Eden rs210 combo

I'm using my Peavey GV, but I'm going to switch to the MTD Kingston Artist this Sunday to determine how it sits in the room. The fundamentals from the Peavey GV are so strong the instrument has fooled me into thinking I'm playing louder than I really am. We'll see (hear) what happens with the Artist.

I like my precision - too many options confuse me! (I do also have fond memories of my modified Ibanez Silver Series Jazz Bass from before I care to remember.)

If I had to have just one... my custom built '62 Vintage Style Jazz but I also love my
Geddy and Jaco Fretless as well as my '85 Ric different basses for different applications. Overall though a Jazz Bass will get you through just about any scenario...IMO
