Set Neck Confusion

I've been doing a lot of looking and reading on set necks but it always ends in a headache and contemplation of using it in my first build :rollno:. I'm hoping it's more simple than I'm coming to believe it is. I've read Wilser's thread and have got an idea of how to do it, but what's really tripping me up is the joint of the neck to the upper "hump of the singlecut.

Anyone care to share some wisdom? Detailed pics of the process? Any other helpful material?

i have not yet done it but will be soon to a singlecut. if there is extra wood past the fingerboard, taper that as well. i did a 2 ash body, so the "hump" has some wood to waste at the bottom, if you look at a few glue neck sc basses on here, you will notice that when neck meets body, it is not half neck, half body, across the center. the neck it carved all the way up until the body it reached. transition blocks help make a cleaner look, and should be glue to the neck, then the neck to the pocket. i am not yet cuting the ash that will be waste wood, because right now, it creates more gluing area, witch will help get a better glue joint. help at all? just make sure to get a tight fit. i plan to make it so it just about fits, and then hand sand for a perfect fit. sadosky does this, and it is tight enough for you to lift the instrumetnt by the neck, while it is horizontal, with no screws/bolts/glue, and have the neck secure to the body.
