Setting up a FTP?

Been looking around on google seems like nothing is helping. Currently using WinXP. Tried a couple of methods from most of the google searches seems like they dun work.

What i tried:
-Install the IIIS including the Ftp, common and world web
-Forward porting on my router
-Have correct IP's
-"hopefully" configurated FTP in adminstration correctly

Hopefully one you of you vet IT guys could help me.

I used a program called CuteFTP, i tried a few others but it worked best for me.

It was easy to use, install it, forward ports on router, and "create new", stick in your IP, username and password, and there you were

Ahh, I can't get into the FTP thru WAN , But Lan is no problem. =/ That currently is the main problem

I'd avoid IIS if I were you. It's dubbed "It Isn't Secure" for a reason, at least the XP version, I hear the Server version is a lot better.

If I were you, I'd go with Invalid Link Removed. I've used it for years without any problems. It's very easy to set up, but very powerful at the same time.

I'm a big fan of "Fetch" FTP, and I also like "Bulletproof" FTP. CuteFTP was OK, but not as feature-rich or robust as Fetch or BPFTP.

I use G6 FTP server myself. They have a tool on their website that will try to connect to your server. I don't know why it wouldn't work with any ftp server software.

you are sure port 21 forwards to your IIS install?
does IIS know to answer for your WAN IP address?

do you have some failure logs of outside clients trying to connect?
can they telnet to port 21 of you public IP?
