Settings on G&L L-2000

Both pickups on, active (without treble boost), vol full, bass between 50-70%, treble between 40-60%.
I flip-flop on series/parallel depending on the song (but I dont know which setting is which! :o)

Disclaimer: mine is not a TRUE L-2500. I have a frankenbass that has complete L2500 guts installed.

L2500:

pickup selector: Both (Center)
series/parallel switch: Usually Parrallel (sometimes Series, as a boost)
active/passive switch: Active (Center, not with hi-boost)
volume knob: 90-100%
treble knob: About 60% (will boost to 70-80% for a slap-type song)
bass knob: About 60%

The other important thing is when I first got the bass I lowered both pickups pretty far as they are so hot.

L2500:

pickup selector: Both (Center)
series/parallel switch: Usually series (sometimes parallel as a less overpowering tone)
Single coil switch* (usually in single coil outside coils unless using single pickup)
active/passive switch: Usually passive. center to get a bit more high boost and max for slap.
volume knob: 90-100%
treble knob: Max down to roll-off to taste. Usually near max.(no cut or boost)
bass knob: Max. (no bass cut or boost)

* added by me.

pickup selector: Center
series/parallel switch: Parallel
active/passive switch: Usually passive
volume knob: Max
treble knob: somewhere between 30% and Max depending on strings and rig.
bass knob: Max

I noticed many of you cut the bass. Why? I haven't really experienced with that...I probably should.

Also, I read somewhere on TB that there's a sweet spot for the volume knob. Is it different for active and passive mode?

I almost sold my L2K a year ago...and I'm SOOO glad I didn't.

Bass and treble start at 50% and adjust to taste
Volume usually full but depends on preamp (sometimes signal a bit too hot for certain preamps)
Both pups/serial live
Both pups/parallel recording
Almost always active, no treble boost

On my L-2500

pickup selector: Whatever works for the song I'm playing. One of the great things on that bass is the sounds you get by using different pickup and series/parallel settings, so I'm not locked in one.

series/parallel switch: 50% of the time on either one of the settings, except when I'm using the bridge pickup soloed (100% of the time in series mode)

active/passive switch:Active, no treble boost.

volume knob: 100%

treble knob: around 70%

bass knob: around 70%

Usually:

Volume 75%
Bass 100%
Treble 75%
Passive
Parallel or sometimes single coil...if I can't cut through I go to series...

Love the l2000....going to the grave with me.

I also put a "slap ramp" on mine cause I learned slap and pop on PGuard basses and I hate that huge gap from body to strings....(prob poor technique on my part!! O:)

Love my L2000.
It incidentally does a Pbass type sound (neck, series) that I like better than any Pbass I have tried.
Mostly play it passive. Not a big fan of the preamp.
I have actually just ordered a John East Stingray style 3-band preamp to install in my L2000...
