Seymour Duncan Apollo Jazz sound clips?

I can’t decide between Apollo’s or the aguilars 5 HC. I play in a cover band top 40/classics/rock, then do ccm plus gospel on sundays at church, and then also like to dable on jazz, country, and rock here and there. So I need pickups that i can take everywhere with me and be safe of hum that can also sound modern and vintage.

You can’t go wrong with either pickup, it might come down to brand-loyalty at that point.
For example, the Aguilar’s in this video sound amazing...but no matter what Or does sounds amazing...

Thinking about a p/j with an apollo in the bridge and some other seymour duncan in the P spot. What do you guys think would go well with that.

Not beefy enough sounds with my current nordstrand np4v and nj4se, although the nj4se in the bridge isn't bad.

While I love the Apollo, I can say that if volume balance is important to you, I'd pick something slightly hotter like a Hot Stack to balance with the P.

I see. My main issue with the current pickups is lack of output and I kinda want something a little stronger down low.

Other than output what is the tonal difference between the apollo and the hot stack?

Can you recommend one of your P pickups for this combo?

The problem is that a bridge Jazz doesn't have a lot of output compared to a regular P pickup, like an SPB-1. An Apollo, which has a little more output than a regular Jazz pickup, still doesn't keep up with it. Yes, there is a tonal difference between the Apollo (more scooped) and a Hot Stack (more mids). If you don't want that tone change, that is OK, lots of people don't. Bu then you won't have balance between the P & J pickups. Either way is a compromise, unless you used active pickups.

I understand. I don't like high mids but low mids I love. I mean 250hz and lower.

Which SD P pickups would be most balanced with the hot stack? With the apollo?

I'll add that I almost never solo the bridge pickup.

I know there is a quarter pounder p/j set but since the bridge is single coil there can be hum even with both pickups all the way up.

Yes, there is. You, of course, will get hum. The Apollo might work fine for you, but you will have to turn the P-Bass pickup down to get a 50/50 balance if that is important to you.

I don't know that the balance is as important as good solid tone.

But I definitely don't do hum lol.

Thanks. Based on tone alone on youtube clips I was thinking of the spb-2, just seemed like it had more bottom end. Just not getting enough bottom out of my Nordstrands is why I'm making the change.

These would be my choices. The SPB-2 does have more mids, but it is about 75% hotter, too.

The SPB-1 has a bit more low end, and a bit less high end, compared to the Antiquity II.

I'd say the SPB-1 had more lows. The SPB-2 has more mids.

1) SPB-1 and Apollo
2) Quarter Pounder and hotstack
