I absolutely lev my 2. It's a great sounding pickup. Very thick and sounds like a P bass should.

I've got the 2 in a late 80's Peavey Fury....enormous punch but I have to lower it down more than normal to get it sounding more vintage P bass.

It is noisy however.....if you stand in certain positions it is fairly quiet but seems to pickup more noise than I would like.

I have copper foiled the whole bass and ran the ground wire.....anyone else find the 2 noisy?

Sounds like an issue with your bass or the environment you're in. Mine is dead quiet.

Steve Harris Signature Bass has the SD SPB1 Vintage pickup. The SPB4 is a slightly overwound version of the SPB1. So it's in between the spb1 and spb2 Hot.
In reality, Steve Harris had Seymour Duncan custom wind his pickup.
Fender does weird things with their Sig basses. The first run of Steve Harris basses around 00-01 had a SPB3. Everyone thought that Steve uses that pickup. Now the Roger Waters bass has it too.
Maybe Fender is in Cohoots with Seymour Duncan. I know the do the Duncan Designed in a lot of the Squiers.

The big question is whether the SPB4 is still awg42 wire. The SPB2 is probably awg44, so the SPB4 could either use AWG43 wire with normal turns or AWG42 with more turns.

Not confirmed but I would guess it uses the same wire as the SPB1 but with more turns. It's been stated that Steve Harris originally used the stock SPB1 than had Seymour overwind it a bit for a hotter more mid focused signal.
Unlike the Hot model the SPB4 doesn't have an increase in the lows. The lows are about the same as the Vinatage SPB1 if not a little less.
