the white one is 3 ply and pearloid … I am not 100% convinced on either so I swap them out when I get tired of one ...

In my case, I like to use the Forstner bit to remove most of the wood with very little mess. Then I go in with a 1/4" router bit to clean it up and finish off the pickup route. It ends up looking like it was CNC'd, which appeals to my OCDness.

Finally gave in to a major mod...having her just slightly over a year and gave in to pickup swap ocd. Had to slightly widen the cavity but OG pickup would still cover it if i needed to un-parts bass it.

At first was liking the clear more focused tone but some of the boom was gone. Then realized that now where i play really changes tone. Above pickup the old boom i love but more focused & rich. Scooch few inches back and less boom, etc. As that is where i usually play probably going to cut the cavity south so i can flip the pickup around to be more in my comfort pluck zone.

Im a chrome junky but like the more black/chrome mix of bisonic vs sidewinder. I still need to cleanup my pickguard (had to cut a bit off but still slightly overlaps pickup...OG pickup was slightly offcenter)

One day ill record it. Yesterday tried but stupidly stepped on cable and broke my output jack [internal only not cosmetic]. Under warranty at guitarcenter and they refunded my purchase price $155 if i paid $30 for new jack + labor. Lol. The $125 net gain covered the cost of pickup. :)

Lookin' good ! I dont know what your tone goals are, but v-v-v-t works beautifully in my 3P, but the pickups are well matched and don't load each other down. Add a master volume in the former switch hole and keep your blend and just adjust volume.

Good job @Nebula24 ! Those BiSonics really are very touch-sensitive, which I love. Is that the current Guild version, or...?

Looks great @Aceonbass ! Very sharp with the chrome and black. I've recently taken a bit of a shine to three-pickup basses. You should post it in the "Show your three-pickup Bass thread". :thumbsup:

Got it flipped around. A lot more work due to wood grain (?). Wood didnt cut as easy towards bridge as the other sides yesterday did but its done. Fixed my pickguard to as needed a small part of corner cut better.

Fits my play style better as i play right on edge of pickup and not neck. So easier to go between boomy and little less by moving to middle.

Now back to playing bass after weekend of working on her. :)

EDIT: and i noticed she is lighter now.. lower side of 7 lbs instead of being closer to 8.. definitely felt the heft of sidewinder pulling it out vs bisonic. So maybe more prone to neck diving than usual but i dont mind it (rest arm on it when playing so not an issue).

What type of comparison are you looking for?

There is no "long scale" SG Bass, long scale for this shape under the Gibson brand died in '79, not counting one weird model from the early 2000s that is not an easy find, and the hardware is very different from both the EB and SG offerings...

If you're looking for SS vs. LS comparisons in the old EB range, there are quite a few variables iinvolved depending on the sub-series.

I own both the SS and the LS EB-0 basses and would be happy to help but can't really peg out what kind of information you're looking for.

You can get the "signature growl" on both, but you need a proper Sidewinder/Mudbucker pickup and I'm not sure that Novak's PU quite meets that standard, it's a pretty different sound based on the clips that I've heard. To my ears, the long scale one has a clearer definition out of the box.

Depends on which Novak mudbucker you're talking about - The EB-BS is a big BiSonic style pickup, the EB-AA is a conventional dual-coil humbucker, and the EB-0 is the vintage-style sidewinder. Just took a peek, and he has a new option out now too, the EB-BSX2, a pair of BiSonic coils side by side!
