It is also likely to help aliviate the neck dive a bit - yes that's a 34" version which is why I'm saying this - and lighter tuners would be in order too...
One of the reasons that I never pulled the trigger on an Epi EB-3 is that I know I would go completely nuts turning it into a mod platform and would highly unlikely stop at one...
It is the EB-3L. So far the glue has worked. Didn't get the chance to really fly it yet, but got a good set up on it now and need to wait for the truss rod to settle into the dry lack of air

So I mentioned earlier in this thread that I didn't care for wonky look of the stock tuners sticking so far out on either side of the headstock on my EB3. I finally ordered a set of Schaller BML tuners, which have the same size tuner posts, and stick out 1/4" less on each side. I had to peg all of the original screw holes since of course none of them lined up, but none of this showed after mounting the new tuners either. The original tuner footprint extended 1/8"or so below the Schallers, which left an impression in the finish, but it's not very noticeable, and a whole lot better looking than 16 exposed screw holes that would have resulted from using my favorite tuner, Hipshot Ultralights with the clever keys. The E string in my Optima flats was deader than if it were wrapped in foam rubber, and while the rest sounded okay, I realized this wasn't the tone/vibe I wanted out of this bass, so I put on a slightly used set of D'Addario EXL170BT'S, raised the bridge pickup, and the tone came alive. I'm really liking the Jeff Berlin sorta tone I get outta the bridge pickup, so I'm going that direction, and adding another bridge pickup where the front pickup on a P/J bass is, along with some very creative wiring and a relocated output jack. The Hipshot Supertone bridge I added a few weeks ago was my first mod.
These were on the shelf of an old music store, I thought they looked much better than the original tuners, that were still o.k.. But 2 of those tuners were identical to the ones on a Cimar JB copy.
The D on that bass was replaced by something that looked completely out of place. So I swapped that one for one of the Ibanez tuners and gave the EB3 copy these.
Meanwhile......I've prepared my EB3 for an appointment with a Ryobi plunge router, hole saw, and forstner bit. Additional parts should arrive Saturday to finish off the mods.
I'm not impartial because I don't like white, but the wood is nice. Maybe a shade or two darker would be my leaning.
BTW, I like the Alembic style plate to make up the diff in the huge mudder neck route. Nice idea.
Everyone should know about forstner bits ( carpenter here ) A forstner bit and a really sharp chisel enables routs in inconvenient laces w/o dismantling the whole instrument.
You can also cut only 1/2 or less of a cut on the edge of a square cut or overlap, unlike other bits.
