Even though not a true Gibson SG, the body shape was inspired on it.

This is absolutely stunning both as art and as an instrument!

mr - I really like the finish on your bass! It has a kinda "all business" perfect gig bass vibe going on. What's the finish called?
That pic hits all my sweet spots...
Hey blab - I followed this build and was very impressed with how it came out. That's some really sweet looking wood on that body! Being able to build your own pro quality basses really opens up a lot of options for a left handed player! So now that you've had it a while is there anything you would have done differently?Even though not a true Gibson SG, the body shape was inspired on it.

Nice pair! Kind of a stage and studio set. I'm an SG and Gibson newbie so I don't have much experience with these basses outside of the one I own. Do you find the two you own sound alike, or does each have distinct voicing?I'm in! I love the SG.

The option are limitless, the only thing that might be hindering me is my imagination, but so far that hasn't been a problem.Being able to build your own pro quality basses really opens up a lot of options for a left handed player! I realty like that walnut color. If I get a second SG, it will be that color.
I've nothing against a little beat up, quite the contrary! I love seeing basses that have been playedCount me in! Here is my 1972 EB-3L, I have owned it for 35 years! Its a little beat up, missing pickguard, pickup trim but still has that awesome Gibson sound.
I have had guards cut for other basses by Pickguardian, might be an option.View attachment 515910
There's my red devil! Bought it to mod, ended up loving it too much to change anything! Can I have a number? Also does anyone know where I can get pickguards for these?
