SG & EB Bass Club

Anyone thinking about upgrading to the SuperTone bridge? The setup on my SG Special was beautiful the only advantage I see is being able to take all of the strings off at once :) I may get one if I can get it cheap.

I wasnt looking at changing the bridge, but I'll be darned if I can find Fender Flats in the right scale.
What did you end up using?
I might sacrifice a 34" set for this bass.

Guess if I find the right strings, I wont need to worry how they come off the bridge :)

I've got a question I been wondering about since I bought mine and got a real interest in Gibsons.At what point did the switch from the name EB0/EB3 to SG and what was the reason.Anybody know?

The EB0 is a single (neck) pickup, where as the EB3 is a 2 pickup.

They sound nearly identical. The only differences I can tell seem attributable to string-type and pickup height.

I've had a few SG/EB-style basses over the last few years:

I have a Supertone. The advantages are ALOT more contact with the body, and the adjustability. Having individual string height and side to side adjustments were the main reasons I got one. I've onwed several Gibsons and never liked that elevated bridge design.

I do love my SG bass, though. I've strayed away now and then, but always wind up back with her.

I'm still with the stock strings I'm with you trying not to butcher a set but it looks like that may be the case.

As far as mine go the SG standard and the EB-0 sound similar but they are different animals. The EB-0 has a Curtis Novak Bisonic pickup which makes it much more usable, It is also sporting rounds. The SG standard has an upgraded bridge and flatwounds which make it different. I could use the EB-0 for about anything I play in but I hate to take it out of the house for fear something will happen to a 50 year old Bass that's in its condition.

I had one on my Epi EB3 that I very stupidly left on when I traded it in. If it was around $60.00 dollars it would be a quicker decision I'm looking forward to seeing what Jeff has come up with .

I contacted Curtis about the Bisonic pup was it a drop in? I've only heard one demo of the Bisonic on YouTube and I liked it very much.
