Well, I've never played bass in a band so don't listen to me!
I had an SVT head fall on top of a hardshell case once with a bass in it, did no damage to the bass. I won't use gig bags for anthing other than to store a bass in a closet.
Oh, I highly recommend these NR T-Birds especially to you guys being Gibson players and all. The necks are fast, the basses are solid as a rock and the sound is really good, big bottom with all the highs you could want. They play beautifully. It's become my favorite bass. I was even thinking of a getting another one and having a luthier put a fretless ebony board on it with side dots right on the 3rd, 5th, 7th frets like a Fender fretless while they're still available.
New EB-3 owner. I’ve always played Jazz or MM style basses, so this is a bit of a departure. Ergonomically, pretty horrendous. Tonally, this is gonna get a lot of play time.
I’m still trying to get it setup well for me. Previous owner used pretty heavy EB Slinkys, whichever set has a .055” G. I’m gonna drop it down to 45-105 like my others so I can do the NIB bend.
I’ve been using GHS Boomers, but wanna go with something a *little* brighter on the Epiphone. I get that dark is part of the charm, just want a little more clarity on the E and A.
I’m still trying to get it setup well for me. Previous owner used pretty heavy EB Slinkys, whichever set has a .055” G. I’m gonna drop it down to 45-105 like my others so I can do the NIB bend.

Epi EB-3L or Gibson EB-3(SS)? I'm a fan of Ernie Ball Cobalt flats-on everything except my Ibanez semi-hollow AGB200(tapes).
Boomers are a very poor fit for Gibson/Epiphone basses, IMO/IME.
The real question is how bright do you want to go. Sing or zing, or a bit of both ?
My hunch would be SIT Nickel Rounds, I'm sure you'll get other suggestions as well.
Cleartone’s NPS 45-100 work well. Too me Boomers are a bit colored, and don’t favor humbuckers well

The bass is an Epiphone. I’m a big SIT fan, maybe I’ll grab a set of Foundations for it. I should clarify, Boomers have been my latest go-to on my other basses. Haven’t tried anything aside from the Slinkys on this one.

Part of the issue with the A string’s height is the extra winding at the base is sitting on the saddle, raising it a bit above the rest.
So far, my favorite sound is both pickups, volumes & tones dimed. If I back off either pickup’s volume at all, it almost completely goes away. Gonna check the wiring, if it’s good, I’ll probably convert it to MV/MT.
The neck has already been deglossed, but I’m gonna have to hit it a little more aggressively. All my maple necked instruments get stripped and oil/waxed, but I’m reluctant to do that to mahogany.

Its not silk, but the base of the string where the winding is thicker near the ball end.
I would imagine that Foundations would sound great on it.
I agree with others in that Boomers don’t really work with me on my Epiphones. I dig them on my T40 though.
Mostly the horrendous neck dive. The previous owner put the front strap button on the neck behind the 15th fret, and moved the other a few inches up the edge. This makes it balance better, but if I sit down to play it without a strap, it's terrible. I have a real 1962 Gibson Les Paul/SG, which balances better, but it's still just a bad design, IMHO of course.
That said, I absolutely love this bass.
