SG & EB Bass Club

There should be a thread in the strings section where everyone in this club posts what strings they are using.
It should be called: The SG & EB Bass Strings Club.

OK, I'll play. Currently using 3/4ths of a set of LaBella DTB's(A-D-G). The E string was meh, so I used a used Ernie Ball Cobalt Flat I'd taken offa another bass-I love EBCFs. Sounds big and full.

Stringjoy nickel rounds 50-110 on my #1 (modded EB-0)
Pyramid flats on my EB-2
GHS flats on my EB-3. Thinner gauge, she came with these and I left them there because they scream late '60s on that bass.
SIT Nickel rounds 45-105 on my SB-300 and my LP Triumph Bass.
DR Sunbeams 45-105 on my Guild JS-2
Stringjoy nickel rounds 45-105 on my Les Paul Bass.

All of these are short scale basses, which is why I mention even the non-SG shaped ones...

Oh. OK.
EBCFs on my Les Paul 5er
SIT Power Flats on my 67 NR Thunderbird
EBCFs on my Epi Embassy(used-I'll prolly get another set of SIT Power Flats)
D'Addario tapes on my Ibanez AGB200-very UB-y sound
And the previously mentioned Deep Talkin' Bass/EBCF on the Epi EB-0.

I'd love to try that bass. Never had a fiver from that run in my hands...
According to "The Gibson Bass Book", they were made from 95-97. Mine's a 95. It's my least played(it's heavy), but I like it for when I need a 5er. I should play it more.

Not sure if this is the right thread to post this in, but can someone tell me a good Gibson or gator case for this bass? It looks like all of the Gibson bass cases that would fit it are sold out in stores right now.

My 14 year old is going to Florida to play a concert in two weeks, and I want to let him take this bass. Bad thing is, I only have the soft case for it.
Sorry it's not an SG, but thanks in advance!

I bought a few EB basses recently. 68 EB0, 70 EB3L. 1980 Greco EB500.
I no longer feel guilty. Wow.
Agreed. I wouldn't want to set them on the floor either.

I bought a '70 EB-3L a few years ago and the headstock broke during transit, it broke in one piece so it looks like it may be an easy fix but I was pissed. I had warned the seller to pack it good, he wrapped a thin piece of bubble wrap around the headstock, kid selling it for his father. Haven't been back to the states long enough to have it fixed yet.

There's a LP guitar case or two where this bass fits from what I can recall. You may want to check in the Gibson Club thread as well.

Good luck.

D'addario ECB81S Chromes on my Epiphone EB-0.

I had problems with Rotosound short scale flats. Not recommended.

Yup they're WAY too light and I use them on most of my long scale basses. I ended up putting short scale DR High Beams on it, 105 E string, I hate floppy strings and they sound pretty good, I also use La Bela DTB on short scale basses. 104 or 105's, (big difference), they're called light and medium.
