I've seen (but not tried) stuff from Eden, Phil Jones, Ashdown, Markbass and a few others that look interesting. I wanted to keep it under $500. Note that I already have the GK 210 combo. It's much larger than what I'm looking for in a micro rig. I'll be using the rig mostly with my SG so no need to cover a low B string.

That's exactly what I plan on using the Eden head for. I figure it an one of the ex110's and I'm good to go. I got a GK 210 as well and it was bigger than I needed for a lot of stuff. I only plan on breaking out the stack for outdoor gigs from now on.

At minimum, it looks like it could help to avoid some neck dive - at best, (with a thick belt) on a perfectly balanced bass, you just might be able to play without a strap at all. You could even make it front-to-back adjustable by having 2 T-style miter slots with pre-set locking 'stops' set into the back of the body. I can see it now... NAMM 2017 unveils - the new strapless, "Floating Fender" system, or "Gibson Ghost" guitar holder, or "Warwick Waist Hugger" or maybe the "Squier Strap-On" :cautious:... but I better keep a lid on this idea!

I wonder what time the "Patent Registry" office opens up? The doctors here are pretty cool and they won't mind my missing today's "Introduction to Finger Painting" activities. :unsure:

Yeah, that's similar to what I've deduced as well. The seller referred to it as a buckle rash guard, but I agree it looks more like something that can be attached to a belt. Like a makeshift Fender Go-Around.

Also, I need some recommendations on strings.

I've used Rotosound Swing 66 Nickels on my long-scale basses exclusively for years. Sadly Roto only makes short-scale 66s in .40-.90 and I'd prefer to keep the E at .100 (though I'm not super strict on that). So besides Rotos, what SS roundwounds might be the most similar?

On the other front, I'm looking at picking up a set of flat wounds for the first time since my first beater bass. I was thinking of going with LaBella lights because that' evidently what Bruce used, but I'm open to any suggestions. Someone also recommended TIs to me. My preference for Flats would be lower tension given I bend the string a fair amount, or at least a similar to tension to the Swing 66s.

The LaBellas have been spoken highly of here many occasions. Hopefully those guys can chime in

I have DR High beams on one SG and they are great. Got D'Addario Nylon tapes on the other,they're great too. I had a set of Labella Deep Talkin Flats on my Fireburst SG for awhile. Imo they are some of the best flats you can buy. Only reason I took them off was because I wanted my SG's to be total opposites tone wise from each other. I have a set of Labellas on my Hofner Violin bass as well. Just great flats. They are the Beatle bass flats 36-96. I usually run 45-100 on all my strings,just personal preference.

I'm using Chromes and love them. Once you break them in they play and sound fantastic in my opinion. Low enough tension that I can pull off bends with no problem.

I'll hold off on the number until the bass arrives, don't want to get too far ahead of myself.

I know Curtis Novak makes one in the 30k range, but it's about double your price range.
