Well, it sounded like the pickup developed a fault, but without seeing it I have to take your word for it. ;) I'm not sure how you would have broken it.

Glad you like the pickups. :bassist:

I thought at one point I had it pressed too far down into the pickup cavity and bent the wires over too hard, either breaking the wires or something they were connected to inside the pickup. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about what goes on deep under the epoxy...

So that's like a 5 string Jazz size? I don't officially have anything in that size except for the exposed pole alnico pickups. I do have a hum canceling version of those, but neither is on the website yet.

But if you wanted the neos, I could put something together for you.

Yes, It's like jazz style 5 strings. But the size where goes the screw is different from any pickups i could find online.

This is why, maybe, will be easier do something like a soapbar
pickup with a ring around to cover that gap where the screw goes in.

I don't know if you notice, the pickups are not vertically straight they are in angle. Maybe it will be a issue, i don't know i'm just saying .

And yes I,m looking for the Neos. I will use it with audere preamp or John east.

So let me know if it's possible, if yes, I'll send a email direct for you with pictures of the bass. and the measurements.

Thank's

Yes, doing a soapbar would be easier, and if you go with something like the ND3-BC5 (107mm x 32mm), it will cover the old pickup rout so you don't need a ring.

What about the space between strings and pickups, I'm not sure if it will fit, and probably will be too close of the strings.

From the body to the strings it has 10mm of space.

The pickup is recessed into the body, so you can adjust how high it is. That's how the current pickups in that are. No pickup sits right on the top of the bass because they are too tall. Most pickup are about 3/4" to an inch tall.

The bass would have to be routed for soapbars. The new routs would cover over the old ones, so you wouldn't see them, and it would look like factory installed pickups.

I just ordered a set of Sidewinders today—a "wide" bridge pickup and a "deep" neck pickup. I also asked him to make them with neodymium magnets. I should get a pretty unique sound out of these things, and no matter what they'll be a vast improvement over the stock EMG HZs this bass came with.

I'm excited! :hyper:

Hey there, neighbor!

I ordered a set of neo's earlier this week and I look forward to seeing how they sound in my bass. It's a Peavey Millennium Plus J/J.

I've owned one before and that one sounded really good as is, but this one sounded muffled and hissy. I discovered that it was the pickups that were the problem.

I then got a good deal on a set of Reed James neo's in the MK1 size and had the pickup routes enlarged to fit them.

I think it looks better with the larger pickups but these didn't sound right to me either. They sounded just fine in single-coil mode, but series mode was too muted in the highs and kind of flavorless to my ears. They probably wound them too hot.

I'm hoping that these neo's are going to fit the bill!

For now they're going to be wired V/V/T with series/single/parallel switches. I might eventually add a preamp - we'll have to see.

ZIt does look better with the large soapbars, but you could have put the Jazzbuckers in there. They are the mini me version of the regular neos. :D

I already had the RJN's or I would have done that. I still like the look better with the bigger pups, and now I can put the wide neo's in there (for the wider sound) and switch them into single's for a single coil sound.

David I think there is a issue with your web email. I purchased a set of pickups on line. several weeks ago and have not heard from you. I have tried a few times to email on the web site with not luck. I can only assume its a mail issue. please let me know how to contact you.
