SGD Lutherie Pickups

I would guess that there are probably better options for a vintage sounding pickup, Rio Grande, Fralin, and Duncan come to mind. I would think SGD pickups would be a bit more modern sounding. I could be wrong of course, but my experience with Neo pickups (Reed James, MK1 replacements) is no where near a vintage sounding pickup.

I'd agree that the ND3's and Sidewinders wouldn't get you a vintage jazz tone. The sidewinders would get you in Rickenbacker tone territory though. I have no idea about the SGD Alnico Vintage line though. They certainly SHOULD sound like traditional jazz pickups but I don't know of anyone that has tried them.

That's all well in good for everyone other than the people that are still waiting for their order.

A lot of people have waited a much, much longer time than promised for SGD products, including me. That's why the deal with BBG is necessary. I believe they will all eventually get their orders, but going forward, this is the best business model for SGD and for customers.

Nobody is suppressing your views. You've all had the floor and been allowed to speak. We have been informed. Thank you.

You are clearly no longer motivated by the laudable desire to warn and inform, but by sheer spite. It is making coming to Talkbass to get information a dark, negative, bitter experience.

We are not defending SGD from you. We are defending TalkBass from you.

Actually, waiting almost a year for something that was advertised as having a much shorter lead time and getting one false reassurance after another about whether or not your purchase will actually be shipped AND being out $230 dollars is a dark, negative, bitter experience.

I see. All who see things differently than you should shut up and go away? I have been waiting on a pr of j pups since March. To me it's no biggie. I have given up and written it off as a poor choice. BUT, I do wish these threads were in active rotation when I placed my order. I would have passed and been happier for it. I wish nothing but the best for David, and sincerely hope the BBG deal does for him what we all hope. But that changes nothing in history. And to be quite honest, I'm only barking because some think they had the right to tell me and others in my situation to shut up and go away. That is the exact wrong approach if that is your desired result. No one whines about someone who posts that they got their pickups on time. Why do you need to whine about those who did not? Seriously.

Folks, they aren't going to relent, and arguing just feeds them. I suggest anyone else who's sick of this relentless "stuck record" negativity over and over contact the mods. I just did.

I'm getting grumpy about baby sitting this damn thread. It makes up about 3/4 of my moderation duties. I'm considering options moving forward, but if this doesn't stay civil for now, I'm just going loose my mind and start infracting everyone who can't stay on topic without arguing about 'their god gifted opinion about how things should be' or can't stay away from the barked language

This is the last warning on this thread.

If everyone sent a PM to a mod every time they had a different point of view than someone else then the mods would spend all day reading PM's ;)

In the interest of getting things back on track here, I am curious about the new multi-coil pickup that SGD has been working on. Not that I need any pickups right now, (still gotta finish my first bass build lol) but they look pretty cool! I'm new to multi-coils but the concept seems interesting. What do they typically sound like? Hopefully these will be available through BBG, the folks there have been great to me.

Close the thread. It is pointless. I (and many others) am out a couple hundred and still waiting on a due date that passed months (or years) ago. But if I point this out to those who might expect a normal, satisfactory transaction, I am accused of "bashing" and told to go away. It's preposterous. I have never questioned anyone's positive experiences with SGD, or their motivations for posting them. But if it's not a 2 way street, close the road.

I don't have any god gifted opinions (just ask my wife) but I think part of the issue is that previously we had two separate SGD threads. There was this one, for discussing SGD pickups in general and then there was the thread John Turner started (which moved to a part II) where existing SGD customers with long overdue orders could give updates.

I think there's some value to having both. Minus the sniping.
