Got one, installation was intimidating with the wing but no scars, nice and snug.

I'm fairly new with DB, and it's a Palatino, so I know what I've got (or should I say I know what I DONT got)

I haven't really dug into all the settings, tweaks, blah blah but so far I have been pretty happy. I don't have any metric for comparison so I'm flying blind. I CAN say that I have waaaay more midrange than I expected which is great. I've even got crispy high end which I did not expect.

So far I like it a lot. Glad I can finally plug in and actually play with some volume.

Updates to come as I start to find my way with it all.

Hiyeeee

OK a year+ later...

Grooving. I still have no comparison to make, so grain of salt and all, but still happy. Like stated above plenty of midrange and snap. I'm plugging into the fx return of one of my Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 amps and it's really no different than using an electric bass with the full amp. The EQ (albeit seemingly limited) is pretty versatile and offers plenty of options for control and balance between the two pickups.

The only (kinda) thing I'm not a fan of is that you need to memorize ALL the dials to make good use of it. If you don't KNOW what the controls are there is no way you can peek to make adjustments on the fly, even worse in dim light.

Overall (with this being my only data point for a DB pickup/ preamp) I give it a YES.

Two pickups, one preamp, hpf and some basic EQ. Although I have the bottom of the pile DB and no experience with other pickups or DB preamps, this unit works for me and does what I need it to do. I likey.
