Yeah, how could I forget Circle Takes the Square?! Great band. Check out "As the Roots Undo" if you haven't yet. Saetia is another band I still enjoy.

I don't like a ton of screamo - a lot of it sounds the same to me, but some of the bigger bands that stick out to me are:

Chiodos
At The Drive In
Underoath
Fall of Troy
Receiving End of Sirens
Test Icicles
The Used

Sorry if those bands are too main stream for you underground kids, but I dig them once in a while

i love all those bands well except the last two.

and screamo/emo/even hardcore are all very vague genres because to me emo is something along the lines of new age elliott smith like connor oberst or the early november.

screamo to me is something like alesana/underoath/heavy heavy low low.

to me its the opposite, many 'screamo' bands have synths in them. real hardcore doesnt, stuff like years spent cold/stick to your guns/ligea. alot of people get it mixed up with metal. like devil wears prada is metal. as is between the buried and me.

*ps that cd reveiving end of sirens put out a while ago, the ambient one, was amazing. and i dont understand how the guirarist from fall of troy sings and plays that crazy stuff*

Re-upping this very old thread because screamo, such as it is, seems to be making a bit of a comeback.

To whit, both Jerome's Dream and Saetia are playing Fest this year, along with Nø Man, who is all of Majority Rule + a brilliant front woman. (Majority Rule were in that realm, I think, although I consider more hardcore.) AND I've seen City of Caterpillar like 3 times in the last few years. AND AND Page 99 just did a show in RVA with Catharsis like 2 months ago.

Good for me! I love this stuff. I hope this trend continues.

I thought I made it pretty clear why I brought the thread back.

Incidentally, one way for the thread to stay dead, such as it is, would have been to simply not comment on it.
