I was 11. My parents treated me and my buddy to a day at Disneyland. My dad took us. He had to make a stop at a bank and my buddy and I were in our old chevy impala messing with the cigarette lighter. Marveling at how red the coils got. Well I pulled it out and it wasn't red. Just to see if it was hot, I put my finger on it. Melted off my fingerprint. That was very painful.

Welding spark burns SUCK. Oh man... I've had sparks fall behind my welding mask and sit on my scalp, I've had then crawl behind my gloves and sit on the backside of my hand, welding sparks are self-inflicted torture!

By the way, I wanna come by your shop and make a viking-era broadsword with you. Sharp pointy objects FTW!

Any time!! My friends shop about 10 minutes away is much better suited for forging big blades. He has all the air hammers, hydraulic presses, anvils and gas forges. I'll work in my Katana while you work on your viking sword!! Bring the burn creme, LOL!!!

I burned off all my facial hair lighting one of my Dads propane forges years ago. That sucked!!!

I was working a car wreck with multiple vehicles involved. One of the cars was upside down and had a dirtbike, or very dirtbike-looking street motorcycle of a brand I still don't recognize kind of leaning into it.

I had to crawl into the car to stabilize the drivers' neck. While I was down there, somebody bumped into the motorcycle hard enough to dislodge it from the car. So it fell over and the hot exhaust pipe landed on my leg. The upside down driver said my hands never moved, but my legs damn sure did. I was trying to kick the bike off of one leg and pull the other one out from under it all at the same time while trying not to curse into my patients face.

Amazingly, the only place that burned bad enough to scar was the first spot it touched on the side of my calf. It melted through my pants and left a 1" x 1.5" scar. All of the other spots it touched just left blisters and faded away eventually.

So I had a small second degree and MANY first degree burns from a bike falling on me while I was laying on the side of a road.

Apparently, my life isn't like normal peoples'. :rollno:

i was 19, very drunk, and very stupid. while i was attempting to smoke a butt i dropped it and caught it against my face with my hand. i was so drunk it took someone else to say something about the smell before i realized that i was buring a huge hole on my chin and hand.
the worst part wasn't the burnt hand, or the awful hole in my face, it was trying to explain to my mother why they were there.

For some reason kids at my school used to give themselves "smileys", which was heating up the metal top of a disposable lighter by lighting the flame for 30 seconds and then holding it against their arm. It would burn them and scab over, and if the scab wasn't picked to induce further scarring, after it fell off a scar in the shape of a smiley face would be left. Weird behaviour!

This is no where near as good as other posts here but...

I use to have a Big Block Corvette with chrome side pipes. (Very bad idea) On at least 2 occasions I burned the crap out of my leg getting out wearing shorts. The worst part is I let a girl I was dating do the same. She probably still has a scar. After that the policy was long jeans when riding.

Oh yeah, as a lifeguard I see some bad burns. Crazy sunburns that people inflict upon themselves. Especially you Brits and Euros. Also DON'T BBQ w/hibachi's on the sand. That heats up the sand underneath those q's and there's something about sand, but it can retain heat for a couple of days after you leave. Treated a 3 yr old for 2nd degree burns after she stepped on a "hotspot". /PSA.

couple weeks back I was stirring a pot of gravy I'd upped the heat on for a few while the pasta was cooking.

Big burp of rising air bubble left a nice bit on my right hand index finger... rinsed it right away with cool water and ended up with a blister as thick as my finger and running knuckle to knuckle for 2 days until I finally popped it.

Not a big deal... but it was a good slap deterrent and freaked a few people out :D

When I was 17, I was working as a cook at a crappy little dirty spoon restaurant. I was trying to manhandle a huge baking pan of baked potatoes out of the oven and into the steam tray slot, and I managed to touch the edge of the pan to the side of my left elbow. I'm 21 now, and if you look close, you can still see a 6-inch scar from that burn.
