SharkB8's Killer BEE

One question..is there much of a difference between claro and burl walnut? I'm thinking of a future bass or two that will be primarily walnut (for some reason, I love walnut). I was thinking of a "sandwich" type of design, with a walnut core, burl or claro walnut top and back, and purpleheart between the two. In my mind it looks awesome, but it'd be even better if I knew the difference between claro and burl. Guess I should get to googling.

SharkB8 - That bass is looking awesome already. Can't wait to see more pics.

keep in mind that will probably weigh about 20lbs :) Wish I knew the differences in the woods but I dont. I imagine all walnut is going to be heavy and we all know about purpleheart.

And since Ive now posted twice in the thread, I guess I should comment on how cool this bass is going to be!

Very cool, Shark! That is some pretty outrageous walnut! Sorry if I asked this already, but did he give you a completion date? Will this be something you can play this summer, or are you looking at a Christmas present? ;)

Thanks BG,
I'm having a lot of sleepless nights knowing that there's a 'lewski lookin' for a home out there.

I'm not sure about completion time....was going to be around 4-6 months I think, hopefully closer to 4. That means I'd only have about 2 months left...but I'm sure it'll be longer than that, but, one can always dream!! :D

Just a quick update...there will BEE a new headstock design for this bass. Fred did a great job at a design that represents a more elegant side, and will complement the body design very well.

Thanks Larry!!!
