Shaving Tips?

I used to break out horribly on my neck and chin until I started shaving in the shower. I don't even use cream or gel; just soap, and I wash my face and neck after I'm done shaving to keep my pores clear. Since I started, I never get irritation unless I'm using an old, dull blade. Don't waste your time with cheap razors... buy a good one like Mach 3 or a Fusion (or a straight blade, if you dare). Your face will thank you.

I bet shaving in the shower, the steam is helping to keep your pores open, and so less irritation.

+1

I alternate with the grain and against the grain every time I go to shave. No creams or gels, just water.

I've never had shaving cream in the house, and my pop did the same thing..

i dont shave dry, like i said, dip the blade in some hot water, and go for it, down, then up.

It's alot faster and dont have to waste any cash on shaving creams or lotions.

I do the hot water thing too. It makes things go quicker and smoother, but I can get by without it.

Dudes,OP has a very sensetive skin,if he shaved w/o any gel or else it'd be his last shave believe me.:)

Wouldn't that fix the problem? :smug:

On a second though, aren't you a knifemaker? Shave with your own knives already.:ninja:

Every knife I ship will take the hair off your arm without any pressure on the skin. That means it will cut the standing ARM hair. That's still not sharp enough to shave facial hair with because the knife blades edges are too thick. Facial hair is much to coarse and the knife blade would dig in, cutting the skin. Plus, the blades need to be pretty straight. I tried with a VERY sharp hunting knife once..........:(

Well, I'll try this Edge shave gel that you guys are talking about... according to the commercials - I should be jumped by several gorgeous women shortly thereafter.

I just bought this Neutrogena Sensitive skin gel that supposed to prevent razor bumps... so I'll have to try it after that. I'm also going to get a mirror for the shower and try shaving in there - if it doesn't fog up.
