there isn't some kind of software that can convert sheet music into tabs is there? i have some sheet music that i can read the rhythm to but i can't read bass is there a software that can get the tabs put underneath it?

There are a bunch of software titles that can do this, each with their own quirks and level of accuracy. None are 100% accurate.
But I use Finale Print Music. It works pretty well and is easy to use.

I use Anvil Studio.. It is actually a music writing software. Its free to download and if you just use the program to copy the music (you have to do this manually no scan stuff) you can then go look at the tabs for it. Only problem is once it goes past 5 frets it takes it down to the next string and may not be the best fingering for bassline also it shows 6 strings (like guitar) so if its high notes you just need to do simple math and put them back on the 4th string. Not fancy but is helpful for anything you can't read. I prefer to do it by hand the system is just good for me to write my own music but it might help a bit.
is there a program that does the opposite? because I dont know how to read tabs, and i dont plan on knowing how, nor do I plan on wasting 4 dollars on one music sheet!
You can easily do this with any of the finale products.
Finale Notepad is still free I believe (it's like a teaser program, but it is very functional). The only drawback is that unless you purchase PrintMusic or "better", you will not be able to scan the sheet music in, so it takes a little longer to enter notes.

Really, all you have to do is look up the song that you want to play in a 4-string pattern on Google or whatever. Then tab sites will come up like 911Tabs.com or ultimate-guitar.com. And usually those sites will have alot of Dream Theater songs done in a 4-string pattern. That's what I do.

Lol I'd rather be able to read sheet music than tab. Sheet music is way more beneficial than tablature, but to each his own.
Reading sheet music is way better for sure, no argument here.
I am saying if you can read a number you CAN read tab.
