Double Bass Shelf life for different rosins?

I've now tried some Pop's from Bassrosin.com and... I guess it's pretty good. Definitely fresher than the stuff that I got from wherever on Amazon. Yeah, a couple swipes and there was a nice little groove in the edge of it without any powder or opaque surface. Of course the powder still shows up on the strings pretty quick.
I'd be psyched if the stuff was great for a couple months.

Do you guys think rosin plateaus? Anybody have a three year old cake that's not any worse than it was at 6 months?

In my experience I think it comes down to either: your bow's rehair situation, or your rosin's freshness. Just earlier this month I went to a rehearsal and my bow/rosin was powdering up and squeaking. Had to constantly wipe off the strings. My rosin was Pops, bought last year. My bow had been last rehaired in January. So I got my bow required, and next rehearsal it played like a dream; no powdering up, using the same Pops. At least where I live (northeast US), my bow hair produces powder anywhere after six months after a rehair. At least I'm fortunate I can afford to rehair more than once per year. FWIW.

From experience Jade Solo (my rosin of choice for solo material) has a shelf life of about 8 months. I noticed it started flaking more and becoming more brittle instead of powdery/spready goodness you like from Jade. For orch I use Pops which usually gets me through 3 months, in that time I use a solid portion of the cake as I play every day multiple times, where I lessen the bow tension or just play it off.

I've tried carlsson's and nymans and they lasted about 4 months each, Kolstein I can not stan (minority here) I dont like how it grips the string...

Gaston's I've seen last a year...
What I plan to do with all the old rosin I have lying around is to reduce it and remake it into the hybrid rosin monster...Add some other ingredients, and put it into cups to give to the bassists at the high school and middle school back home (who are using either 5 year old pops or cello rosin from the 1800's). Got to give back
