Shell Pink-Maple or Rosewood neck?

Okay, that does look sexy. But not as sexy as that Charger in your avatar! Is that a 68?
I like the way maple looks on mine, but the rosewood/tort/matching headstock above looks really sweet, too!!
Too hard, I can't decide. The early '60s Js are crazy hot. But Munji's Lakland and Caca's Fender (which also has a maple board) might be my favorite shell pink basses here. And the latter is for sale: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f126/fender-shell-pink-custom-shop-55-precision-bass-nos-905989/

They both work, and they're both technically correct.

Again, my post was a suggestion. Take a look. You're in way over your head here. The issue is criticism of one's thoughts when there is no right or wrong. To say you think its ugly is to say you think I have no taste.
I do find that offensive. Better put that you prefer something else. I guess its a generation thing. I suspect most posters are younger than me..
I would have to go with maple as well. Like others have said, Munji's is really the best looking shell pink bass I've ever seen. On a Strat I could see a rosewood board, but on a bass I prefer maple.
I always seem to sneak my toes in there... maybe I should start wearing socks around all of my basses?
The bass is a total frankenstein... I bought a shell pink Hoppus when killing time while a friend of mine was taking too long to pick out a strap at GC about ten years ago. Swapped out the neckplate right off the bat and played it for a couple months stock until I found an early '70s neck with tuners for it (I wanted it to feel more like my '74) which made it instantly sound a lot better. Unfortunately it sat lower in the neck pocket, so I had to put a cover on it to give my thumb a place to live since I used to use the pickups as a thumb rest, but they were really far into the body. Somewhere along the line, the pickguard broke, so I got a stack knob plate to replace that part of it... there was an extra hole, so I had my guy add a tone control to it. I never really use it, but it is there if I want to roll off the treble a little bit.
It is one heck of a bass now... probably worth very little, though.

How you perceive it, is how you perceive it.
It has no bearing on how they meant it.
That's being WAY to sensitive about what someone else thinks, and trying to limit their ability to describe their feelings in accurate detail because you can't handle it.
Again this is just my opinion. And I am simply sharing it with you. You, by no means have to agree with it.

My distaste for blue does not automatically say your taste for it is bad. It just means we have different taste and have both expressed our opinions about blue.
Technically he (the guy that said tort & pink was ugly) could also turn your position right back around on you, no?

No, it doesn't. Not at all.
Again it just means the two of you feel differently.
How someone chooses to express there likes or dislikes has absolutely nothing to do with the other.
The issue is not criticism of YOUR thoughts, stop taking others opinions so personal.
It's criticism of the color combination, nothing more.
