Shell Pink Precision

As promised, here is my review of the Babicz (how is that pronounced anyway?) bridge.

This is by far the most solid, well though out piece of guitar/bass hardware I have ever used. Of all the bridges out there, this one is the first I can say is an honest improvement over the old bent steel Fender design.

First of all, it is extremely light weight, which kind of goes in the face of the high mass bridge theory. I love how all of the adjustments lock into place after they are set. The cam, that is used for the string height adjustment is very smooth, and locks into place after it is set. The bridge pieces are very well machined. The intonation screws are the smoothest, easiest to turn screws I have ever seen on any other bridge.

The only con I can come up with for this bridge is that it has to be taken apart to be installed because the intonation adjustment screws go over the mounting holes. That is a very minor complaint, and there was really no other way around it from an engineering standpoint.

As it turns out, I don't believe I am done with this build yet. Looking at the finish in direct bright light, you can still see very fine sand paper scratches. I'm going to take the bass back apart and re buff it starting with a coarser compound. I did a test area on the back, and it got rid of the problem. So It should be an easy fix.

looks good from my house! :bassist:

Hopkins - call me crazy but I think white pu covers and (some sort/variety of) white knobs would be ideal w/your neck blocks.

but I also get the classic pink and black mix...

I actually ordered some white pickup covers, they just haven't come in yet.

For knobs I'm thinking something like these in white

I'm leaning more towards the pearl topped ones, or just regular chrome.

great minds think alike... can't hurt getting 2 of any option and making the call live - I have a small collection of different knobs myself ;)

The chrome knobs are definitely an improvement. I'm not sold on the white pickup covers though. The white almost looks like its to bright, and it looks kind of weird against the pick guard and they dont fit very well. If I keep them I'm going to have to open up cut out in the pick guard a little bit, they are wedged in at the moment. I'm leaning towards keeping the pickup covers black, what do you guys think?

IMO, with the white guard/inlays, the maple 'board, the chrome hardware- there's a lot of brightness going on there. ]
The black is the necessary contrast, again, imo, with the shinier pole pieces being the unifying element.

Keep that like that, and rock the pink out of it.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. The black covers are going to go back on it.

Creme pickup covers for me would be perfect.

And out of what you have, I prefer the black.

I think the cream color would be a shade or two darker than the pick guard, and basically have the same problem.
