Shep on Bass - Interviews about effects!

Been a while since the last one. Time for some huge low end and prog' madness...

Todd Wood is the bass-man with Midlands-based prog' favourites Alright The Captain.

Alright The Captain have carved a name for themselves in the UK/Euro progressive rock scene over the last few years with a reputation for being LOUD, nasty & noisy and for gigging constantly. If there was ever a band you had the chance to check out live, ATC is the one, with more gigs played each year than almost any other originals act around. ATC have a reputation for something else as well - Huge, dirty bass sounds. In fact huge is an understatement.

Check out what Todd had to say about his set up and sound...

Time for another (well overdue!) interview...

I'm very excited to present to you Bob Chidlaw, the man responsible for the sound design and development of Source Audio's range of innovative effects.

Bob Childlaw is a man with a varied technical background and huge love of vintage amplifiers and effects. So how does this background relate to creating genre defining digital effects?

Have a look at what Bob has to say about it all...

May I present to you Tom George of COG Effects.

COG are a relatively new company based in the UK, making high quality, hand wired pedals. Being a new face to the market has not stopped Tom's pedals making quite a splash with both guitarist and bassists alike.

Have a look at what Tom had to say about his background and bringing his designs to the market.

How's about a chat with Brad Fee of the awesome Mojo Hand FX? Yup. I think so too...

Mojo Hand FX offer stunning boutique effects pedals designed, built and assembled in the USA. They have a reputation for sounding great, looking stunning and surviving life on the road. The man behind the brand is Brad Fee.

Check out what Brad had to say...

Thanks for reading dude! Yeah, Gary is a serious gear-head. His passion seems to be with modding gear rather than trialling new stuff though. It's an interesting approach - don't find something else to do the job, instead make your existing gear do extra stuff!

It's that time again...

May I present James Brown of Amptweaker. A man with a long history in the audio industry. A history which has been focused on tone since the very beginning.

James's background within the audio industry has been based around developing equipment which delivers the goods for guitarists all over the world but now his passion is directed toward Amptweaker, creating pedals packed with years of industry expereince and insight. One word... TONE.

Okay, not an interview this time, but I thought I'd make a post to say that my new website is now live!!!

This redesign has taken me far too long nit-picking over minor details, but the result is something I am very proud of. I had lots of feedback from readers about how the site looked and worked and have taken much of that onboard - The new site is cleaner, brighter, fresher and easier (IMO) to navigate.

The upgrade to the new platform has also allowed me to introduce a simple effects discussion forum which I hope will be come a well used feature of the site to discuss the interviews and effects in general. The forum software is still in development so except upgrades shortly. There is also a users gallery of pedalboards, featuring the boards form regular readers, each one including a link to their music. If you would like yours featured too then send me an email with your name, band name, link to page/site and a photo of your board to info -at- sheponbass.co.uk

I hope you all like the new site and I promise more interviews about effects in the VERY near future!
