May I present Steuart Liebig - an underground master of intricate, ambient and downright interesting bass-craft.
Steuart is a solo and band performer who, for the last 20 or so years, has released countless solo recordings as well as work with the who's who of the avant jazz community. His approach to using the bass is so unique that it has to be heard to be believed.

I wanted to come on here and give you a HUGE thumbs up for doing this interview, Chris! Steuart is not only an inspirational player, but he's absolutely one of my favorite people on the freakin' planet. I met Steuart through mutual BPL and NAMM friends and found no only an intensely creative and individualistic player, but an intelligent and humble person as well. you can learn a lot just by having a conversation with Steuart over a cup of tea.
Humble, brilliant, creative, and looks at bass through the eyes of an orchestrator and composer, not a bass player...I hope many more people look into Steuart's work because of your interview. Anyone on the effects board who hasn't discovered him yet is severely missing out! You'll never look at the tools at your disposal quite in the same way ever again. Everything this man does is not so much great bass playing as it is HIGH ART!

Thank you dude - both for taking the time to read the article, and for wanting to voice your opinion. I can't agree more. Stewart is a real talent, and one of the many largely undiscovered innovators around. Being able to bring some focus to guys like Steuart is a real thrill and I hope I can continue to do so for others.

I hope lots of folks have read his interview and thought, 'wow!'. He style and sound is never going to sit well with everyone, but I think most can agree that he is very unique and innovative in his approach.

While known for working with a number or acts, such as The Pierces, David's Lyre, and Diagrams, Si is best known for taking his pedal-heavy antics on tour with the very talented Ellie Goulding!

I am very happy to present the very talented Ron Petzke of Bongripper fame. A man known for his serious, low, doomy tone, and a beast of a rig!

Ron also knows his gear. He's moved through setups of various sizes, and road tested his fair share of amps and cabs. Ron was cool enough to spend some time going into great detail over the setup that he's currently rocking.

Chris Hargreaves (aka. Fatty Bassman) was the very first dude that I interviewed for this blog. It's where it all began. And what a dude Chris is.

Since that interview I've stayed in touch with Chris, and his music, and been to see him perform a couple of times too. I couldn't make the local(ish) dates on the recent Submotion Tour, but managed to catch up with him at an Alex Clare show and chat about the changes to his setup since we first spoke.
