I am about to list my VM squire on here for sale, but I've never shipped a bass before.
I've shipped many things in the past, but never a guitar or bass, so not sure what to do about it

Its in a gigbag, not a hardcase, just looking for tips to make sure it'll be completely safe in transit.

get a tall box, call up guitar center and see if they have anything you can have, and use good quality bubble wrap in all free space in the box

Some bubble wrap on the headstock , neck and body. Put the bass in a padded gig bag. Put the gig bag in a box, and as others have suggested , fill in the gaps with balled up sheets of newspaper.
