I was thinking the Supros or a Gibson ES-Les Paul Bass. I had one for a bit and thought it was great, but I'm just not into a lot of finishes on the neck.

The 24 fret ones are all "short" scale (31 and a bit)
It's been decades since I played a long scale Kramer; I think those were either 33.5 or 34. The aluminum necks were the same for both, they just put on different fretboards...

When I owned my DMZ5000 (in high school and not too bright), I thought it was peculiar how poorly long scale strings fit on it. Not knowing there were other options...

Sadly, in the late seventies and early 80s none of our local shops had any short scale Kramer basses, only the long scales. I played short scales exclusively back then, and loved the sound of the aluminum necks, but didn't know lumie short scales even EXISTED! Where's that alternate universe timeline when ya need it?

Hello all,
I’ve been trying to build a nice short scale bass collection. The thing is I’ve been getting quite bored with all the PJ configurations. Even with the slew of new short scales coming out this year, a lot of them have P pickups or PJ pickups. I’ve been wanting a bass with two humbuckers but haven’t seen one in a short scale. Anyone know of any?

Yamaha Motion basses. Had one, wish I never sold it on.

I also had a Yamaha Motion. Very cool bass. The bass player for Average White Band used one. The sound of these basses is amazing. I found the Motion difficult for me to play due to the fact that it is short scale with 24 frets which makes the frets pretty tight. I like short scale bass but prefer 20 frets for that fingerboard length. That feels more natural for me. I have a 20 fret 30"scale Warmoth P-Bass that has become my primary player.
