short scale conversion

I have an older squier P bass that over some time I have modded pretty heavily. I went in GC the other day and played one of their mustangs now I really want a short scale bass. Is it possible to convert a standard long scale to a short with something like a neck change and if possible, where could I buy that neck?(hopefully not really expensive )

any help will be appreciated

You'd also have to change the bridge position to keep the scale length good. My advice is to either buy the Mustang, or get the cheap Bronco squire puts out and mod that. I've always wanted to do that myself.

Or you could buy a Dano....

Buy an SX shortscale for <$US150.
I particularly like the ash Jazz. Never played one though as they're not available here but the other shorties they sell get a good rap from users here.

Even if you found somebody to make you a short-scale conversion neck (I know Warmoth and USACG won't) that you could use without moving the bridge, then it'd be a wee little neck. The nut would have to be 4" closer to the bridge/body, so you'd have a full-sized body with a little like 16-fret neck sticking out.

I'd probably go with Dharmabass's suggestion. A short-scale SX would cost less than a replacement neck anyway.

yeah, good point. I was comtemplating buying a shortscale SX P because I really like the SX jazz that I have now. I just wanted to get my squier to be fun to play again(the neck is shot).
