Short scale Stingray!

I received, I believe, the second to last Neon Pink Shorty. It arrived today.
Like AjCalderon, I pulled the trigger because I knew I would be so jealous of seeing those 5 out in the wild.

Sadly, I don't know if I love the feel of it. It's great...but maybe, just not for me. View attachment 4144232

You had to get it to know!!! I’m sure if you hold onto for it a bit you’ll easily get back what you paid for in my opinion.

I love mine. I might love it even more than my Starry Night now. The all maple board feels fast and fun. I think had I got this one first I probably would have waited to black my starry night out until later down the road but I think mine are keepers... for now at least I never know what these manufacturers are gonna do in the future

Okay now that's not fair, you're only like 15 miles away and mine is still not here. *grump*

EBMM customer service told me I can't buy these colours now, I have to wait indefinitely. But they did say that exciting things are to come in 2021. I would be perfectly satisfied with the exciting things that are already here, though, and GAS doesn't have the power over me it used to have. I can wait, but who know how I'll feel by then. I have a SN already, so...
I can only conclude that business is going too well to fuss over every Dick that comes in the "shop".

Wooooot!

Quickie: 7lb 3oz, built very nicely, sounds great, need to adjust the action a little bit but not a bad player right out of the box!

One q: how do we know which one of 5 it is?

Also this pink shifts a bit depending on lighting, it’s very deep in this room but perfectly hot-pink in the next room and light pink on my webcam!

That's the 'Dream Team' right there !! @AjCalderon do you think you'll swap the necks?

gonna get them both to have black hardware first and see how they look/feel. Maybe try the neck shop in photoshop first and see how it looks. The pink one feels so good as is if I do it I’ll probably save it for when I’m feeling the mod itch and save my future self some money lol.

Dang! That's the coolest looking set of basses I EVER seen :) .

I haven't been following this thread to closely, but I LOVE the starry night upgrades! Do you mind me askin where you got them and how much they cost you? I'm considering getting a starry night and doing the same.

THANK YOU! I love them and can’t wait to get the black on the pink as well.

All the hardware was through Ernie Ball! It’s a bit of a process as you have to send them your neck plate and bridge before they’ll sell you black ones but everything else can be ordered straight away. As far as price goes I can’t remember since I ordered a lot of doubles of things to have spares and to use on my SBMM. It’s probably $300-350 for a full hardware swap (tuners, neck plate, bridge, pick guard screws, pickup height screws, control panel screws, washers, knobs, strap buttons etc)

they don’t have the control panel tho. I had to have a custom one cut which I got from Precision Guitars in AZ on reverb. They took FOREVER which held up the project and kept my bass in pieces way longer than I would have liked but I had sent him my original control panel so not much I could do.

luckily I bought a spare control panel so should be much easier swap. The new black parts should arrive to me any day now.

Dear all,

Which are the strings you prefer for this bass?

I have made my first change to rotosound 66 swing, but they are too bright. I think that nickel remains the best option.

Claudio
I like the stock strings (No. 2852, 45-65-85-105): they are bright sounding and not at all floppy feeling strings. They fit with this bass well IMO.

I will try a lighter gauge, which is my preference, when the 2852 set 'dies'. I have a set of short scale Roto's waiting. Until then I will be very content with the stock strings. This is just my preference but I hope it helps.
