Short Scale Watson 6 string bass

Hey everyone in talkbass land

Just wanted to show off my new Watson 6 string short scale

It is my dream instrument which I have had in my head for the last 25 years
Alex Watson finally made this a reality for me
If you are not familiar with his instruments , you seriously need to check out his stuff ...

The reason I wanted a short scale is that I am a little person and have never been able to find a bass to meet my special needs

Well now I do I also wanted to prove to people that a low B could work on a short scale .... it works beautifully
The bass strings are reversed and strings go thru body

The bass is a single cut body 24 fret neck
Has a zebrawood top,butternut body,and birdseye fingerboard
with zebrawood oval inlays
7 pc neck with curly maple, east ind rosewood and gabon ebony
Watson pickups with audere preamp and sidedot LEDs

Here is some shots of it
Also here is a youtube link of me playing at NAMM 2011

Cheers Michael Cybulskie ( BIG MIKEY C )

Love it! Great tone (and playing!) on the vid. Like the headstock too, although I'm pretty sure I'd throw the tuning off every time due to the arrangement.

Just goes to show that B strings can be good independent of scale length. Heck, I'm curious about a shortish scale bass too, and I'm 6' 5"... :hiding:

Hi there it was a totally custom custom instrument. There were a lot of upgrades that were considered upcharges

I can give you an approximate ball park was between $ 5000 - 7000

This is a killer bass -- I absolutely love it

I'm in the process of ordering a fretless to match
...

Wow, I didn't guess it was quite in that price range. But you've obviously found it to be a wonderful investment. Thumbs up!
