Short scale with 24 frets?

My Kiesel Vader 5 short 30" KILLS (high C)! The workmanship well WOW - none of the 100 Ibanez (Sorry Ibby, just mention you because we used to be friends years back) I have played in 35 years including Premiums reaches the Kiesel. It can't replace my New York Bass Works NYBW masterpieces but Kiesel is the highest level production instrument there is IMO and with all those options... IDK, save up if you can. I've gone into 2 GC & 3 private stores recently and not one had a single bass approaching the Kiesel Vader. Some big names on that list, too. Oh, somebody mentioned the Kramer aluminum neck Duke. That and the even better Kramer XL-24 both are good budget options used (30 3/4").

+1 to these. Although none of my Vader's are short scales(I have 3 of them), that's on my list of things to get, a 30", passive, 6-string Vader!

A 4-string Vader with almost no options(Kiesel gives you $100 in free options)brings you to $1,260ish. That's, basically, the cost of the bass plus their super nice gig bag.

OP, If you want a HIGH QUALITY short-scale with 24 usable frets, you'll probably need to save up and spend a bit more. You could put $500 down on a custom Vader, and you'd have, probably, 12 to 15 weeks to come up with the rest of the dough. Just a thought. Good luck!

Birdsong, no brainer. I have a maple neck shortbass, they are well worth the money! You can probably attain a used birdsong shortbass for $900.00

I have the Brice. It's a good bass, especially E-C. The B is decent, that's how I have mine currently, but it really shines with a high C.

I have the 6 and the B is definitely usable and having the high C is nice. I've dabbled in letting it go a few times but it's such a great player and I put too much money into electronics to give it away. Brand new they are under your $500 budget.

I have a Duke tuned piccolo. No instrument will give you better access to the 24th fret.

The Yamaha Motion B bass are great little 32" scale basses with 24 fret. Should be able to find one for near that price.

This is mine; and, yes it is. Not quite as accessible as the Duke, though. And, the Longhorn's sound isn't for everybody, either...

You like it or you don't. I personally like it a lot. Especially with a little delay or a tiny hint of reverb on it. But that's me.

Geat sound when played tastefully with a pick too. Or a pick and some palm muting. Fear the lipstick pickup when it comes to that!

Cheapest 1 I seen was 1800 n not good condition.
