Short scale with 24 frets?

Since this is somehow still kicking, if OP is still looking, consider an ibanez SRC6. The stock strings suck, replace them with la bella HC-6S or HC-6F, or something in the family of 26-95 range. Personally I like the flats. 30 inch scale, pretty accessible.

The Bronco is already a 30-inch bass. Any additional frets on a 30-inch-scale neck would just be closer to the bridge. To put a neck with more frets on that body, either the fretboard would have to overhang the body or the neck pocket would have to be extended toward the bridge.

Those of you looking for a 30-inch-scale bass with 24 frets might consider th Ibanez EHB1000S. I paid about $900 for mine, so it’s outside the OP’s specified budget.

Are there any new options that are not mentioned in this old topic?

Looking an affordable but good sounding short scale 4-string bass with 24 easily accessible frets. I want this for turning it in a piccolo bass.
So no 6-string short scales or 32" or fanned frets. But 30.75" 4-strings only for under 1000$. Any ideas?

30” is also fine but not more than 30.75”. I want to be able to bend the strings a whole tone. Especially the G string. That’s not really possible with 32”. I have tried. But the wound G piccolo string is fairly tight. So on 32” you can bend it a half step but not a whole step.

Nah. Very hard to reach those highest frets. Not the kind of solo/piccolo bass I am looking for. I also need a bridge pickup. 😀
