Shortscale 5 Strings

That's a beautiful bass.

I know!!! If one were to come up here, I’d be all over it.

I’m in the market for a short scale 5 string myself. One thing I really like about the OBS is the 19mm string spacing. Most luthiers are doing 17 or 18 that I’ve seen. I also like that it has active circuitry.

Looking forward to seeing other suggestions.....I’m watching this thread.

Relatively old, but a question frequently coming up.

Here in Germany i am aware of two 5-string shortscales:

and
BassLine Bustiny - headless shortscale bass with onboard headphone amp

The German manufacturer Pyramid even makes a short scale string set, with a thin (120") B, but only steel rounds.

PLease let me report from an experiment with my 32" 5-string. After thoroughly adjusting (=increasing) the string height until there was absolutely no string buss any more, also the B-String was good. Even after tuning it down to Bb, which is equivalent to a B on 30"! Wow.
The bass is strung with LaBella Copper White tapes, and it utilizes normal long scale strings.

Ergo: i think i need to find a way to hide the surplus length of 10cm (=4in) an build me a 5-string shortscale usable with longscale strings.
