I like the tone of the bridge pickup, but not the neck pickup.
There, perfectly legitimate reason.

And I like the look of a 1st fret inlay.

I would agree that a first fret inlay looks nice, but it's simply illogical!

If you want a first fret inlay, move the 12th fret inlay to the 13th fret at least.

Surely someone else on this board is in an OCD mood this evening?

I agree with Line6man, but whatever. Anyway you will have to epoxy it- the strings will quickly destroy the inlays if you don't.

When I go blocks, 1st fret will be inlayed for sure.

See on a jazz I always play all neck pup and just a bit of the bridge (for warmth) but when I'm trying to get the full midrangy bite I leave out the bridge pup!

For me it is neck pup wide open and bridge 3/4 open...

Hold on, you say you use the neck pickup full, and you add bridge pickup for warmth? Wouldn't it be the opposite? It is with mine. And if you leave you the bridge pickup, you would get the opposite of full mid bite? Total warmth? I find the bridge pickup to be a lot more midrangy and biting.
