well ive been bidding on a rickenbacker copy. at first i thought ill bid low £150 and see what happens, then i thought i can go up to £200 no problem, then it went up to £250 i thought hmmn no more, then i bid up to £300, i thought really thats it. not its gone over £300, i have that in the bank, but im thinking i need to pay of my computer sometime this year and having that money i can replace the ****** amp i have and further mod my jazz bass. i do kinda want the bass but i really want to have some self controll and realise that saving my money now will really set me up for the summer and next year at uni.

theres 2 days left on the auction.im like 40% sensible i need to save my money etc etc. then 60% yay money spend spend spend, what good is money unless its spent on nice things. all my bills are paid for the university year and i can afford food etc.

Don't spend it on a copy, spend on modding what you already have and if you like Rick's save, save and save and get the real thing. There's too many intangibles when buying a copy.

i dont need a bass at all but i like to play bass so i have one. its not a need, just a big want. but i think im gonna try and block it from my mind. ebays too tempting, im bidding on other things right now i think im becoming addicted. i think if i forget about it and act like its already ended and i didnt win ill be ok, i think im gonna spend my money on an amp instead because really it should be my first priority to get rid of my ****** breaks down all the time laney linebacker.

With two days left, if it's going up like that, it sounds like it could easily get to £400-£500, at which point you're possibly more than halfway to a used Ric. Why not just keep that money in the bank, maybe use some to mod out the jazz, and keep your eyes peeled for a deal on a used Ric?

tbh its been on 3 times and the ric police have stopped it the first it went to 200 and got stopped fairly quickly, the second it got to £270 with less than a day to go, so price wise it could go anywhere it could get taken off or anything. i might spend the money on a trace elliot gp7 300w combo if anybodys got anything good to say about them. although im winning an ampeg b100r at £206 i think ill get out bid tbh, so i fell i can safely win another amp and let the ampeg go, or if i wint the ampeg its not too much of a big deal

I bought a Ric copy way back in 1975, I think it was an Ibanez but can't be sure, anyway it looked and felt brilliant, but didn't sound one bit like a Ric.

I didn't keep it that long, not so much because of the sound but becuase it had a dead spot on the E position on the A string.

k so im currently winning a trace elliot combo 2 min to go. that will officially get rid of the ric problem.

k so ive bought an amp instead. it looks decent 300w trace elliot gp7, made in the uk so im not wanting the ric yay. though im a bit suspect of it being 150w not 300w either way im not too fussed. yeah im pretty sure its 150w rms 300w peak.

If it was me, I wouldn't be bidding at all when there are days to go. All you (and other early bidders) are doing is pushing the price up. As a seller I love it when there are early bids, the more the merrier. A bidding war benefits only the seller if it benefits anyone at all.

If you really want the item (Ric copy or whatever), decide how much you are willing to pay. If the item goes above what you are willing to pay then don't bid at all. If it hasn't gone above the price you are willing to pay when there are only minutes and preferably only seconds to go, then (and only then) place your bid. Haven't you noticed how many items (especially the ones worth having) are only won in the last few seconds of the auction and often by someone who was not involved in an earlier bidding war? So, bid rarely, bid late, but mostly don't bid at all.

Buy a real RICKY!!! And don't bid up the price! Be smooth and keep the price down. Just do not buy a copy! In the US, you can buy a real RICKY for a good price!
