Should I get a drumset?

I've seen some great prices for PDP kits. How come no love them in this thread?
Some hypothetical day in the distant future I will probably get a Conaway set for my home studio. I've only gotten to hear two of them in person. But both drummers were so excited about the Conaways that they sounded like they had found a new religion.
My daughter wants to learn drums. I was frustrated that she would pick the only easily giggable instrument that I couldn't tell her anything about.

I didn't read all the posts but here are some answers to some of the question
#1: will it be cheaper to buy it seperately? NO, unless you get it on ebay extremely cheap, but it would still be cheaper to buy a used kit anyways usually
#2: will a double bass pedal work on all drums? Yes, every bassdrum pedal will work for every bass drum, that is unless your getting like a 16-18" bassdrum, then it might be hard to fit it on there, but thats unlikely anyways
Someone else asked a question about which kit to buy for the money, I would get the catalina maple fusion 6piece for around 700 at musiciansfriend (A fusion kit means that it has smaller drums than standard/rock kit which make them faster/brighter)
Also drums mics make bass mics look like kid work
