Aftermarket bridges are cool. Tinkering is fun. The neck plays great, bass feels great........
I'd try that angle with Sweetwater...
"listen I'm going to fix this by replacing this off center bridge, refund me some cash to put towards a new bridge".

If you look on the Fender website, that's how they all are built. So, don't return for an exchange of the same model. Betting that it sounds just fine.

RETURN. The pole pieces aren’t the issue. Those are always messed up on Fenders. The neck dot alignment and obvious off-center of the neck is. I would not accept such an instrument.
Send it back quickly before you get too attached. Major fault shouldn't have ever passed Quality Control.
Well sorry _jaxon5. In my mind, I'm guessing you bought the bass because it was the only color choice or maybe because it was the only color they had.
At $700 the OP can do better.... much better. For similar money he can own a Yamaha BB734. But yeah, a Squier CV won't have these issues. It's a pity. I can tell you, I have a MIM jazz bass from 2010 (or 11?) and the quality is hands down better than the Fenders I've played recently as is my Squier VM 70 jazz.
I'd return it, no need for that in this day and age, people get anal over little tiny nicks and things like that which wouldn't bother me too much but that can affect your playing.

Sheesh. It was bad when I bought Fenders in the 70's. I thought Fender would be on top of this by now. Maybe this is just an anomaly.
no, the strings don't even line up within the space of the neck. the dots are under one of the strings. One string is way closer to the edge of the fingerboard than the other side string. The pickups look bad like that, and in my own experience, if it's off one side you can actually hear the end string as quieter than the other strings.
Since (I also think) the nut is not properly slotted for the strings, the A string is actually directly above the truss rod adjustment hole. Even more of a bummer!
To everyone: thank you. I feel like an idiot for even contemplating keeping it, but like somebody said: I did not buy a project bass. In fact I abandoned one before I bought this one.
I will spend my morning on father’s day packing it back up all nicely.
Immediately went back to Reverb to fill this J Bass-sized hole in my heart...and found a GREAT deal on a used MIA Jazz. The end will always be good! (Sorry! Fender fanboi here!)

A friend once told me the way to get a great Fender is to get one that's not a Fender. This one is starting to make me a believer.
I have a Fender American Performer Mustang for about a year now and I love. I just checked the pickup alignment. LOL, its worse than yours - and I never even noticed it.
I guess that means I wouldn't return it.

That pickup is just too big for that string spacing. Nothing wrong with the bridge alignment I think.
